What is the difference between domain registration and web hosting?

Domain Registration: Domain registration is the process of acquiring a unique name that identifies your website on the internet. This name is known as a domain name (for example, www.example.com). When you register a domain, you are essentially reserving that name for a specified period, typically one year, with the option to renew it. You can choose from various domain extensions, such as .com, .net, .org, etc. The registration process usually involves providing personal information and paying a fee to a domain registrar.

Web Hosting: Web hosting, on the other hand, is the service that enables your website to be accessible on the internet. It involves storing your website files—such as HTML, CSS, images, and databases—on a server that is connected to the internet. When someone enters your domain name in their browser, the web hosting service delivers the files associated with your website so that they can view it. Hosting services can vary in type, including shared hosting, VPS (Virtual Private Server), dedicated hosting, and cloud hosting, each offering different levels of performance, control, and pricing.
